Wilpattu Safari

About

Wilpattu National Park, the largest in Sri Lanka, is one of the country's oldest and most significant protected areas. Located in the Northern Province and marked by the Moderagam Aru River, Wilpattu is a sanctuary for both wildlife and cultural heritage sites. Authentic Lanka offers safaris that blend thrilling wildlife encounters with visits to cultural landmarks.

The park is home to around 30 species of mammals, including Sri Lankan Elephants, Leopards, and Sloth Bears. Visitors can also see Spotted Deer, Buffalo, Sambar, and Mongoose. Birdwatchers will delight in species like Garganey, Pintail, Spoonbill, White Ibis, and Purple Heron, as well as various Gulls, Terns, Owls, Kites, and Eagles. Endemic birds like the Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Little Cormorant, and Painted Stork further enrich the experience. A safari through Wilpattu promises an unforgettable adventure into Sri Lanka's natural and cultural splendor.
